IBPS PO Previous Year Vacancies in 2021

IBPS has released the PO exam 2021 notification announcing a total of 4,135 vacancies for POs to be filled in 11 nationalized banks. IBPS PO 2021 Prelims exam was held on the 4th & 12th December & IBPS PO 2021 Mains exam was conducted in January 2022. The selection process encompasses 3 stages, namely, Prelims, Mains & an interview (slated to be held in February/March 2022). The total number of vacancies that were declared in 2018-19 for the position of IBPS PO was 4252, for the year 2019-20, the number of vacancies announced was 4336, and for the year 2020-21, the number of vacancies announced for the position of IBPS PO was 3517 (all new). The vacancies have not been announced yet for the year 2023 & we will update the number of vacancies once the official notification is released. 

IBPS PO 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are to appear for IBPS PO 2025 must check the eligibility criteria with respect to 3 parameters i.e., age, nationality, and educational qualification. The IBPS PO 2025 notification has not been released yet. The minimum tentative educational qualification required to be considered eligible for appearing in the IBPS PO 2025 exam is as follows: 

Age Limit

Minimum: 20 years and Maximum: 30 years

Educational Qualifications

The minimum tentative educational qualification required to be considered eligible for appearing in the IBPS PO 2023 exam is a degree or graduation in any discipline from a University recognized by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. All the educational qualifications mentioned should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognized by Govt. Of India/approved by Govt. Regulatory Bodies and the final result should have been declared.

The candidate must possess a valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he/she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

The brief description of IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria is as follows:

IBPS PO 2025 for Eligibility Criteria: Education Qualification

  • The eligibility criteria for the IBPS PO exam is a graduation degree like a BA, BCom, BSc, or B.Tech from a University recognized by the Government of India.
  • The candidate must have passed the qualifying exam by or before July 21, 2025.
  • The educational qualification proving document needs to be submitted at the time of the interview.
  • Candidates can calculate the percentage by dividing the total marks obtained in all the subjects in all semesters/years by the aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects multiplied by 100.
  • Candidates have to convert the CGPA / OGPA into a percentage.

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria: Nationality Criteria

  • Citizens of India
  • Subject of Nepal 
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, or Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit

IBPS PO 2025 Minimum age limit is 20 years, and the Maximum age limit is 30 years. In other words, a candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.07.1995 and not later than 01.07.2005 (both dates inclusive)

IBPS PO 2025 Selection Procedure

The selection process for IBPS PO 2025 recruitment includes an extra step which was not there hitherto. After Prelims and Mains exams, candidates have to undergo a Personality Test. Personality Profile of the candidates will be placed before the Interview panel. So, it consists of four stages:

  1. Prelims Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Personality Test
  4. Interview

The whole recruitment process will be wrapped up in January/ February 2026 & the results will be declared soon afterwards.

IBPS PO 2025 Prelims Exam Pattern

Candidates will have to clear the Prelims or first Phase of the IBPS PO exam 2025, in order to reach the Mains exam. The preliminary exam is a 1-hour exam, divided by 20 minutes for each sections, which will be conducted in online mode. It has 3 sections, which invite a total of 100 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. This year, the exam pattern has undergone a change. The structure of the Prelims Exam, which will be conducted online, is as follows:

Note: 

  • A negative Marking of 0.25 per incorrect answer is applicable.
  • Aspirants need to clear the Overall & Sectional Cut-offs to qualify for the Mains exam 
  • Marks of Prelims will be considered only for the Mains Exam and not in the final selection.
  • Marks in Reasoning Ability have been increased from 35 to 40. This implies that there could be some questions which are of 1.5 marks or 2 marks. The difficulty level of these questions could be moderate to high. Your task is to select the easy/ moderate questions from the lot and answer them first.
  • Similarly, marks in Quantitative Aptitude have been reduced from 35 to 30, which implies that some questions may have less than 1 mark. Please note that this doesn't necessarily mean that the questions will be of a lesser difficulty level. We're saying so because as per the past trends, the difficulty level of Quant section has remain unchanged.

IBPS PO 2025 Mains Exam Pattern

The IBPO PO Mains exam will also be conducted online. It will have 5 sections with a total score of 200 + 25 marks and a total duration of 180 + 30 minutes. Just like the Prelims, Mains exam pattern also underwent a change this year. The candidates who will clear both the IBPS PO preliminary and IBPS PO mains examinations will become eligible for the interview process.

  • Descriptive Paper may be broadly based on Economic and Social issues, emerging trends in Banking and 
    Technology, Current events, Ethics etc.
  • Descriptive Paper of the English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) may be evaluated by an automated scoring mechanism for identifying features related to writing proficiency. This scoring mechanism is duly validated and evaluates the test taker's proficiency in writing in the English Language in an objective manner as the mechanism does not have any in-built biases for evaluating responses.
  • The focus in the Mains exam is towards Reasoning & General Awareness. Prepare well for these 2 sections apart from keeping your focus on the remaining sections.

IBPS PO Personality Test

Candidates who clear the Main Examination will be required to appear for a mandatory Personality Test (self-report). The resulting Personality Profile of each candidate will be presented to the Interview Panel for review. While the Personality Test is non-qualifying in nature, appearing in this test is compulsory to be considered eligible for the subsequent Interview stage.

IBPS PO 2025 Interview

Candidates who clear IBPS PO Mains will be called for the interview, which will be conducted by the Participating Organisations and will carry a maximum of 100 marks. The minimum qualifying mark in the interview is 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The interview is about 15-20 minutes long, where the panel members ask questions related to the candidates, the banking sector, current affairs, general awareness, etc. The candidates will have to carry all the required documents to the interview. Interviews will be conducted at selected centres. The centre, address of the venue, time & date of the Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter. Candidates are required to download their interview call letters from the official IBPS website. The IBPS PO final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the mains examination and interview. The final score is calculated by IBPS with weightage of marks given to the main examination and interview in the ratio of 80:20, respectively. Candidates should qualify both in the Online Main Exam and interview and be sufficiently high in merit to be shortlisted for the subsequent provisional allotment process. All the related details will be made available subsequently on the official IBPS website.

  • Handles day-to-day banking operations such as opening new accounts, securely handling debit & credit cards, making FDs/ DD/ PO, processing a loan, handling checkbooks, processing NEFT/ RTGS, processing, and the issue of debit/ credit cards, checkbooks, demand drafts, etc.
